Term Geologist Position, USGS, Denver

The U.S. Geological Survey’s Geology, Geophysics, and Geochemistry Science Center in Lakewood, Colorado is soliciting interest from qualified individuals for a term geologist position. The successful candidate(s) will have strong GIS skills and a basic understanding of economic geology and mining principles as applied to the development of a national-scale, mineral deposits database. Applicants to be considered for this position must meet qualifying education requirements; and have knowledge suitable for conducting extensive literature and data searches of geologic publications, maps, international security exchange reports, and other information sources to make informed decisions, including being able to identify features of deposits and mining operations and to capture production and resource data; and for manipulating geospatial data in the ArcGIS environment. Candidates must be capable of working in a results-driven, team environment. Excellent communication skills and ability to contribute to the development, completion, and publication of scientific products, including maps, illustrations, and FGDC-compliant metadata, is also required.
